I am an associate professor of Communication at the University of San Diego and the author of four books: News for the Rich, White, and Blue: How Place and Power Distort American Journalism; Amplifying Extremism: Small Town Politicians, Media Storms, and American Journalism; Making News at the New York Times, and Interactive Journalism: Hackers, Data, and Code. Currently, I am a Mellon Foundation New Directions Fellow. My previous work can also be found under Nikki Usher.
